At last, I could post!! These are my free impatiens. They come back from seed every year. All I have to do is rake away the debris in the spring and in June all the impatiens start coming up. They will be here until frost or the first freeze.

The very first blog I read of yours (which I found totally by accident) was your pictures of your impatiens in the spring!!! I was totally amazed that they come back every year. They are the first flower to get killed off with frost and they NEVER survive our winters!!! they are amazing looking. We are totally into fall temps in Nova Scotia. two nights ago, it was 40 degrees, and today its 80. Weird... hot then cold. We have had 2 mornings of frost so far this fall. I will post pics of my beans... pretty sad looking puppies, they are

I can't get over this! I remember you posting something about your impatiens coming back from seed, maybe in the Springtime. Amazing! What kind are they, I wonder?
But I also think I remember that they came from a relative, so you may not know any more details on them.
Never heard of these, around this neck of the woods. Wow! Lucky you.

You and Curt definitely have a green thumb with those impatiens. You are the only person I know who has a yard full and never plants the first one each year!
You've reminded me to try to do the things needed in the fall, to have plants next year. We had some flowers come back from seed this year under the mailbox, can't remember the name of them. Periwinkle, maybe. Anyway, I'd also like to save some flower seeds and rake away the straw so they can reseed like you do. D.
That's all you do? Just rake and wait?
It seldom gets cold enough here in the land of eternal sunshine for my impatients to die off in the winter, but I remember the years in Oregon. My impatients died on the same night the tomatoes got killed off.

I love impatients as well. I have a huge pot of them that I carry in the house just before the frost comes, and they keep blooming inside all winter. In the spring I give them a haircut and out they go and come alive again, to bloom all summer. They're just great.

We had a lot of Impatiens here when we first came, but they seem to have all gone now...no doubt helped by the garden vandal!
They are such cheery 'honest' little flowers to me.
I think those are so pretty. I sure wish I could grow flowers. I have a rose bush but I think it stays thirsty. I can grow ivys. Have a good weekend. connie from Texas
