Trappers Welcome

This is a beaver dam.
This is Missy crossing the beaver dam.

We have problems with water draining from our yard.  Across the road behind a neighbor's home we found this beaver dam in a canal that is suppose to handle all the run off water from our homes and fields.  They had the water in this canal pretty well stopped up.  In the top picture in the left edge you can see a tiny bit of my husband digging away at the clog. In the bottom, his dog, Missy is checking out the dam.  She walked all the way across, sniffing as she went.  We need trappers.

Treasures

This is a painting of the Maury NC depot. Long years ago my grandmother, Addie Hagan, worked here. One of the people painted in this picture is suppose to be my grandmother. We found this among my mother’s things. It belonged to my dad as this was his mother in the painting. Now we are trying to find out some history about this painting. Any Hagan’s out there that know about this? Help!!  (clicking on the pic will make it larger)

Why?

Who is the person who thinks they have to keep improving good things?  I tried to read some of my friend's blogs on my reading list tonight and all I could see was a notice that Google wants you to put a + in front of some one's name for some insane reason.  I also noticed that when I try to print a page from my blog it doesn't print... anywhere else I can print just fine. I guess when you use Blogger  anything you post belongs to them now.

I have noticed that you can get your blog pages printed professionally now.  When I first started blogging, I printed the first two years of  my posts, my self, and put them in a notebook.  A nice way of journeying I thought. I guess I will have to try to out think them and maybe write my post in office and print from there before I put it on Blogger... Hey maybe I won't post on Blogger... I always had to remember that others were reading and so I held back on some of the things I wanted to say.  Just use office and print only for my own journal.  I think I like that idea...

When I first got my computer, I was in a new world.  Anything I could think of, I could find.  Now some of the same sites want to charge for obits after a certain length of time.  I even joined up with something that Ancestry.com offered and placed my pictures and information freely and enjoyed sharing with my family.  After a time they wanted me to pay for that site.  I refused and went to take some of my pictures down. They quickly told me that they knew I had "hot linked" a couple of pics.  I laughed at them and still got my pics back.  I hate that they took my information and now it is theirs to pass on to anyone else who pays to use the site.

I will be back to catch up with my blogging friends from time to time.  For now I think I'll be working on making notebooks for my family to enjoy (or not).  I hate change !!

Carolina Blue Skies

A beautiful day here, a coolish wind, and not quite as warm as I like.  I was aiming for the flower.  We call these scrambled eggs.  I was disapointed in my picture taking... but then I noticed the sky and the angle of the boy in the bird bath.  I kinda' like it!!

Yellow

I know the daffodils have reached their peak. They sure have been pretty this year.

The yellow bush at the end of the fence hasn't quite reached its peak.

The skies are gray today.  We are expecting rain and wind to start sometime this afternoon.  I thought I'd get one more shot while they are still pretty.  I am so ready for a warm up and for spring to arrive.

Can't Have Nothing

There was a green pot sitting here that was filled with red verbena.  The pot was green and I envisioned how pretty it would be sitting right in this spot.

This morning the pot is knocked out into the yard.  I'm guessing dogs had fun playing with all the greenery and dirt.
