Good Hair Tips

Good Slow Day here today. I visited a couple of blogspots that I hadn't visited in a while. Over at Purple Cucumber's blog she had a cute little thingy about hair at the bottom of the newest blog. Then Emma Sometimes has some interesting thoughts about hair. The comments to Emma are just funny! Check them out if you have time. Have a Good Hair Day!! LOL

Just had to go get this from Purple Cucumber's blog and post it in case you didn't have time to visit there:

Attitude:

There once was a woman who woke up one morning,
looked in the mirror,
and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today?"
So she did and she had
a
wonderful
day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror
and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

"H-M-M," she said,
"I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?"
So she did
and she had
a
grand
day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

"Well," she said,
"today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail."
So she did
and she had
a
fun,
fun
day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

"YEA!" she exclaimed,
"I don't have to fix my hair today!"

Attitude is everything.

Another Landmark Soon To Be Gone

Click on the pictures to see the interesting details of this house.

Walked around this old house not too far from home that is slated to be destroyed. From the front...

Still from the front.

Left front porch.
Right Side Porch.

Left side of house.
Still left side
Still left side.. back porch
Right side back section is a porch that has been closed in.
And this is the Right side of the house with a side porch. It appears to have been remodeled and added on several times. I have passed this house many times while it was occupied and wished I knew the people well enough to have gone in. Now that it is empty and soon to be destroyed, I decided I'd better go look!!

My Sweet Uncle Joe

The preacher who spoke at my uncle's funeral said he had spoken to Uncle Joe recently about putting his wife, Betty, in a nursing home. Uncle Joe told him, in no uncertain terms, that as long as his wife knew who he was and he was able, she would stay home with him. About the last thing he did before he had the stroke was fix my Aunt's lunch. When his children found him that afternoon, Aunt Bett was still sitting in the recliner with her plate on her lap. My Uncle was a very good man to his wife and family and everyone else that needed help.

Thanks for all the kind comments and prayers on behalf of him and his family.

Last Bean Blog?

Ok, I "kinda'" promise this will be the last bean blog for this year. Remember, when I asked in the early spring if I dared to think these would be the best year yet? Well all that watering in the dry period really paid off.

We think we know why it grows so good. Duh, it just came to us this year. There is a light on top of the pole, our night light for the back yard. So this plant might be growing all night as well as all day.

Yes, those are storm clouds you see in that picture. We got some rain yesterday. 2/10 of an inch. They are predicting more rain for us today. I just hope we don't get the bad weather that the middle of the USA got when these storms passed through.

I know for a fact, I have more beans and flowers this year, than I have ever had before. I hope they mature and dry. A lot of people that have passed through my yard have said they want me to save them some seeds. So again I have to thank Janie from Texas for my beautiful (to me) vine.!!

Blue Day, Blue Wildflowers, Blue Weeds!!

We got bad news. My uncle who was caregiver for my aunt who has Alzhemiers was found yesterday lying in the bathroom. He has had a stroke and a heart attack. It doesn't look good.

These blue flowers are shining in my flower bed. I asked my SIL if she knew what they are called, and she said, "I always called them weeds".

One of my blogger friends,Possum told me to call them wild flowers. I like them. They are more blue than my picture shows them to be.

Looking For Dead People

Sounds like a Halloween project, doesn't it? But it's not. A man from our county has searched all the cemeteries that he could find. His records are compiled into two huge volumes. They came today. I will be busy looking for my ancestors for the next little while. ~Later.

I was Tagged!!

8 Things That Make Me, Me

Deborahhas tagged me for the Random 8 Meme. According to Michele, here are The Rules:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.

2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.

3. Tag eight people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).

4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.

This took me a little time as I had to do links and use my brain (sawdust?) a bit.

8 Things That Make Me,Me:

1.I am the oldest of seven children. Grew up poor in the southeastern part of NC. My biggest responsibility as a child was to help look after the other children. So I’m bossy and think I know everything. (Just ask any of my siblings.)

2.I married a good man and have three good children and six WONDERFUL grandchildren. (Just ask me.)

3.Jesus Christ is my Savior. I asked HIM to save me when I was about 25 years old. ( That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is not difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13) (Read the Bible… see for yourself)

4.I always vote for the person who says they are against abortion. I tend to pull for the underdog.

5.I like nature and little things give me the greatest pleasure. BUT I do insist on having things MY way once in a while! (Just ask anybody)

6.I like people more than animals. I like animals outside or in their pens. I am afraid of most animals. I’ve found that horses bite and kick. Goats butt and rare up. Roosters will spur you and hens are very protective of their chicks. I like guineas! (They are afraid of me!)

7.I always thought I didn’t want a computer. My children talked me into getting one and now I’m so addicted, I never want to be without one again. I can think of several things I’d do without before the computer. (My stove, my iron, my washer and dryer, my TV…(now you should be laughing)

8.I am a cancer survivor. 18 + years as of now. My church family, my family, friends and others prayed for me. I give God all the Glory for keeping me here. I saved this one for last, because I know there are other bloggers out there fighting their battles with this disease. I want everyone to know there is hope and God Is Good.!! (Amen!!)

--------And now, who to tag...Someone who hasn't been tagged already....Let me see...(Only if they want to and have time)

Addie Updates

Just a note: Addie has updated her blog.

I Wonder

Have you ever wondered how many years this sand has been blown around? How many times it blew across Hwy 12? How many times it has been pushed back across the road back toward the ocean? How much longer before another inlet forms? Where the next bridge will be built? When the next bridge will be built? Why there is another bridge over in the sound that goes nowhere? How many other people have climbed these same dunes? How those green bushes can live in that white, white, sand? What is hidden underneath that sand? How many pieces of broken shells and sea life are hidden there? Is there a piece of an old sea wrecked ship hidden there? I wonder.

Lighthouses

There is a light house on a hill side...that over looks life sea. When I'm tossed it sends out a light ...that I might see...

And the light that shines in darkness now, will safely lead me o're... If it wasn't for the light house my ship would be no more...

And I thank God for the Light house...I owe my life to HIM. For JESUS is the Light House and from the rocks of sin.. HE has shown the Light around me that I might surely see.... If it wasn't for the LIGHT HOUSE... Where would my ship be?

I thank GOD for the Light House...

Great Day !!

So yesterday we celebrated my birthday. My husband asked me what I wanted and I said I wanted to go to the Outer Banks. We had a great time playing in
Beach Girl's neck of the woods. We went exploring. We visited Cape Hatteras Lighthouse as well as the Lighthouse on Bodie Island. But the most fun was exploring an old abandoned building across the dunes at the end of the bridge. There were a lot of people fishing along side the bridge and on the rocks.

It was fenced in all around and had "no trespassing" signs up. So we just took pictures.

This is the other side. In a few more years it will probably be covered completely with sand.

We walked all the way down to the ocean. We had the place to ourselves. Then we had the long walk back. And I loved every minute of it!!
