Today...

Today it is raining. Yesterday was like a beautiful spring day. We had our last get together for Christmas yesterday.

The rain today is like a nice gentle spring rain. Nothing like the picture I have posted below. Sometimes our yard can get very, very, wet.

On Saturday we worked taking the outside decorations down and putting them away. Today on this rainy day, I got all the inside decorations back up into the attic. Christmas is over.

2008 was a good year for us. No major sicknesses. Our family gained a new daughter-in-law and a new son-in-law. And my husband's brother became a granddad for the first time. The baby was born just before Christmas. Isn't he so cute?

We don't know what 2009 has in store for us. We know that some will be losing their jobs in just a couple more days. Some have had their entire business go out.

This I do know .. Our Heavenly Father is in control of this New Year. I've read HIS PROMISES in HIS word, THE HOLY BIBLE, and I have no need to fear. GOD is GOOD!!

Heidi Came To Visit

This little baby came to visit. Her owners had told my husband that they were raising a little donkey on a bottle and that she would ride around with them in their truck. They had promised to bring her by.

I grabbed my camera and ran outside when I saw they had brought her. She didn't want to pose. She was too busy exploring.

Finally her owner got her to pose a bit. When they left she was standing in the floor in the back of the king cab with her head between the two front seats.

Give Away is OVER...

On yes, I wanted to mention that Mobunnyis having a GIVE AWAY. Check her out.

Goodies in the Mail...

My good friend, "Many Feathers," from Possum Lane sent the seeds that she promised. She told me that I needed to spead the seeds out to dry.

She also sent some of the berries still on their little branches and told me to put these in water. Don't they make a cute little bouquet?

Thanks so much! I hope I can get them to grow for me.

An Award For Me ?

Debbie of Home Making Dreams chose to give me this award. Now I get to choose some people I would like to honor.

These are the rules for the award:

1. Put the logo on your blog

2. Add a link to the person who awarded you

3. Nominate 10 other blogs for this award

4. Add links to those blogs

5. Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs

6. Give a reason why you consider their blogs cool

So Here Goes:

Meredith whose blog is an inspiration. She has so many tips on how to do wonderful things with out spending much money. She also just recently had a baby, and y'all know I love babies.

Lyn just had a major change in her life. This was one of those blogs I just found and loved immediately.

Meggie is someone I consider a friend. From the first time I read her blog I felt a connection. She is serious at times and funny at times. One of my favorites!

Sarge Charlie has a blog that's more political. He also can tell wonderful stories with pictures of himself and Miss Bee.

Deborah who loves history as much as I do. I enjoy learning about the history of her neck of the woods.

Rose Princess who is always looking after her soldier's families and her own soldier husband. She definitely supports our troops.

Desparate Horsewife has such an interesting blog. She's all about saving horses and her adventures with Darling and City Boy keep me coming back for more.

Mobunny homeschools and takes care of her family. Her posts are usually very short, but always interesting.

This girl and I go back aways. She even blogged with me about possums and taught "possum sex." I enjoy her photos of her flowers and her stories of her cats. (And she's sending me some seeds of a Beauty Berry Bush.)

Penny, who is my daughter and got me started blogging. Who ever knew you could meet so many people all over the world and find something in common with most of them.

The rules said choose ten. But all my friends on my blog list deserve this award. So to anyone who reads my blog and would like to have this award, please take it. No one will mind.

Thanks Debbie.

Washington Slept Near

Several asked if the George Washington Southern Tour sign in the post before this one was in my home town. The answer is yes.

According to an article in Chronicals of Pitt County Vol. II, by W. Keats Sparrow, Shadrack Allen’s home was possibly near my home. They think it was located on County Home Road between Helens Crossroads and Coxville.

Colonel Shadrack Allen, Jr. was one of Pitt County’s more prominent citizens. And although the Allen’s grandson referred to his grandparents house as a “mansion,” President Washington described it as “ a very indifferent house without stabling which for the first time since I commenced my journey my horses were obliged to stand without cover.”

The Allen’s home was such a favorite resting place for travelers that it was called Colonel Allen’s Inn. This inn was demolished long ago.

Sunshine and Shadows

"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand." Joel 2:1

"For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of GOD: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9

Playing With The Kids

Every mother should make time to play with her kids. Hide and seek is a favorite of most kids.

Most Kids play well together if they are fed together. Mothers should always make sure their kids get a well balanced diet.

A happy kid will feel good about himself. When kids are happy ... Mothers are happy!!

Until next time, this is Kids Play at Curts Goat Farm.

I Need Help

Last Friday was the day of my drawing for my give away. I have tried to contact Debra Pauley at the email address she provided. I have had no response to my emails. I'm wondering if her service might be throwing my emails to her in the trash can. If any of you know Debra maybe you could get my message to her. If not this is for DEBRA... The first part of the email addresses I'm using to get in touch with you are :Afirstof7 and curtsgoatfarm If you see email from these, it will be me trying to get in touch with you. Please don't delete. I will keep trying until Friday, Nov. 7th. If I do not hear from you, I will draw another name for the give away. Thanks for any help!

I'm updating this post. I have heard from Debra. Thanks anyway!!
