First of the New Year Babies

Update: More babies have arrived making the total so far 15 kids.

On a cold winter night, January 4,2008, six new babies were born at Curt's Goat Farm. Two goats had 3 babies each. My husband had made numerous trips to the barn and before we went to bed we knew there were six. Since goats only have 2 feeding places, my husband hardly slept, wondering if all the babies were getting milk. First thing this morning, he took a trip to town to buy a baby bottle. He has been helping the nannies feed their kids. They are all up on their feet .. expected to do well. So far he has 5 girls and 1 boy.

These are the second born. They are not too active yet. Still huddled together staying warm.

These are the first born. They are up on their feet exploring their world. Too active to get them all together in one picture.

As I've said before, I am not an animal lover, but even I think baby goats are cute!!

You know I'm not a goat person, but if I were, I'd take a Boer! They're so cute with those floppy ears! How grand to have two sets of triplets. Looking forward to seeing them grow up.

Good Evening Ann,
Awwww, those baby goats are precious. I'm like you, I'm no animal lover, but who could resist those baby goats. I'm glad they are doing well tho. Maybe the first 2 will be up on their feet in a week or so. "THANK YOU" for sharing the baby goats with us. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

My mom just had her first batch of babies too! Each year she gets attached to one or two that need to be bottle fed and they end up roaming around the house and stuff on busy days. One year she had a very tiny runt of her one pigmy goat that wasn't expected to survive. She nursed it to health and he (named Lucky) played in a large laundry basket throughout the day. It was very amusing!

What clever girls those Mamas are to have 3 each! They are beautiful, & if I was there, I would be helping with the feedings! LOL. I used to love feeding the orphan lambs, & would get up during the night to keep up the feeds.

Cute for goats. Actually, goats are cuter than sheep but sheep have wool.
