What?

So what do you think about Global Warming, you ask. I will tell you my thoughts for THIS weekend. The weathermen had predicted snow, 2-4 inches for my area. They were running winter warnings all day on Saturday. The snow would start at 4 PM they said. WRONG!!

At 10 PM when my husband went out for the last feeding of the baby goats for that day, he told me it was snowing. I went to the window and looked toward the yard light. I could see no snow or any precipitation at that time. I thought he was fooling me. Yet, when he came in, he said there was some accumulation on the lower part of the windshield of my car.

At the 11 o’clock newscast, the news people were all standing outside in their caps, scarves, and coats. You just could see a few flakes falling through the winter mix. The main weatherman was holding a snowball about the size of a soft ball. I wondered how many car windshields he had scraped to get that much snow. There certainly wasn’t any on the ground.

On Sunday morning there was no sign of snow anywhere in my neighborhood…. Just cold temps.

Sunday night CBS had a documentary on Global Warming. The scientist on there were very convinced that the ice is melting on the two poles. As I was watching the show, a thought popped into my head. Who you gonna’ believe… The men on TV or God. Sit here and believe what they are saying or walk outside and see what God is doing. Y’all "out side" was very cold last night. Not a record…but still cold for us!

Scientist cannot tell us whether it will snow or not, but THINK they can predict the future… Don’t talk to me about Global Warming today… maybe next summer we can discuss it!!

Think I'll run down to Rabaul and see Jules.

Climate obviously has changed and will continue to change. The observation that ice is melting, which can look dramatic on TV, does not show that human activity is the cause. The assertion that humans are or ever can have a significant influence on climate by limiting the use of fossil fuel (a.k.a. limiting human production of carbon dioxide) is not supported by any historical record. The only implication that carbon dioxide level has a significant effect on climate comes from huge but still incomplete computer programs that attempt to predict future climate.

Avoid the group-think and de facto censorship by Climate Scientists. Directly interrogate official government data that taxpayers have paid for from ORNL and NOAA as follows:

If the carbon dioxide level from Lawdome, Antarctica http://cdiac.ornl.gov/ftp/trends/co2/lawdome.combined.dat is graphed on the same time scale as fossil fuel usage from http://cdiac.ornl.gov/trends/emis/tre_glob.htm it is discovered that the current carbon dioxide level increase started about 1750, a century before any significant fossil fuel use.

If average earth temperature since 1880 from http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/anomalies/anomalies.html is graphed on the same time scale as fossil fuel use it is discovered that there is no correlation between rising fossil fuel use and average global temperature at least until 1976.

The asserted hypothesis that, since 1976, increasing carbon dioxide level has caused the temperature to rise is refuted by the carbon dioxide level from http://cdiac.ornl.gov/trends/co2/vostok.html and earth temperature from http://cdiac.ornl.gov/ftp/trends/temp/vostok/vostok.1999.temp.dat determined from the Vostok, Antarctica ice cores. If these are graphed on a higher resolution time scale it is discovered that the change in atmospheric carbon dioxide level lags earth temperature change by hundreds of years.

If Lawdome and recent carbon dioxide data and Vostok and recent temperature are plotted on the same graph since 1000 AD (or before) it is observed that temperature oscillates up to plus or minus 1.5 degrees Celsius (half pitch about 100 yr) while carbon dioxide level remains essentially unchanged (between 9000BC and 1750AD). This will also show that the average global temperature 200 years ago was about the same as now, 400 years ago was significantly higher than now and current rate of temperature change is fairly typical. Recent measurements show that average earth temperatures in 2006 and 2007 were actually lower than in 1998.

For most of the history of earth carbon dioxide level has been several times higher than it is at the present as shown at http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/Reference_Docs/Geocarb_III-Berner.pdf .

The conclusion from all this is that carbon dioxide change does not cause significant climate change. Actions based on the human-caused global warming mistake put freedom and prosperity at risk.

I too think that the world has undergone many changes over the eons, & will continue to do so.

Lovely pic of the little kid! Obviously well fed, & very healthy!

Global warming...Is a bunch of who ha. 20 years ago the government was worried about global freezing and trying to figure out ways to prevent that. The planet is constantly changing. One year it's El Nino's and now it is global warming. There is always going to be something that people are going to blow out of purportion.

How about we worry about the economy instead.
Cute pictures.

Hello from Rabaul - so glad you left your message - I am constantly amazed at the number of people who know me but I don't know them!!!

With the phone lines the way they are here it is very difficult for me to visit - i don't get out much!!! I visit those that leave messages when i can but it takes me an hour on average to visit 6 blogs and leave a messsage so time is the problem!!!

Am looking forward to reading all your posts and learning something of your world!!!

Good Evening Ann,
"THANKS" for stopping by and leaving such nice comments. As always, I enjoy your visits. The weathermen or women don't know anything. Only GOD knows what's in store for us. As far as Global Warming goes, they have no clue. If they would listen or talk to GOD, they might learn something. I do believe it is getting close to GOD'S return tho. He did say in the Bible that in the end of times, you wouldn't be able to tell one Season from the other. Well duh Mr. Weatherman or Women, it's right there in plain black and white for you. Okay, I have vented and put in my 2 cents worth. LOL. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory starting late tonight and into in the morning. I'll believe it when I see it tho. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Ann,

I think we got the snow you were to get. It started snowing last night between 10pm and 11pm and continued snowing until 4pm this afternoon. Roads were closed, cars piled up and major highways were closed because of white out and blizzard conditions.

The world's climate changes every so many years and it has for centuries and even longer. When I was a kid, 3 feet of snow in one day was a natural occurence. Now, it would be a disaster. So soon we forget.

Blessings,
Mary

I agree with you, Ann!

And hey, guess what? We had a little snow Monday night. I even took a picture of it. LOL. Just enough to whiten my driveway, but by afternoon, it was gone.

Love the picture.

Take care!

Ann,

Was hoping that you would get some snow, but you didn't. You'll get some eventually! The snow that fell here ended up lasting almost 2 days. There was just enough to cover the ground and freeze. Now it is all gone.

I'll be back, I have something interesting to post about global warming, have to get my links together.

Scary Conversations -

Last Monday night, Jan 21st, I watched The History Channel's premiere of "Life Without Humans". This show apparently focuses on what would happen to earth if human's were no longer here. Of course, the show didn't tell *how* that might happen, only that nature and animals would reclaim the earth.

Here is the link to the show in case anyone missed it and is interested in checking it out:
History Channel's Life After People

Over in the left side bar/navigation you will see a link,
Discuss the Show, or you can get to it from here:
Discuss the Show

This will take you to a discussion forum about the show. Over to the right side of the page, notice a box with the active forum members. One member in particular, EdGlaze, happens to run a forum on Delphi (and I'm pointing him out because he left his links all over the History Channel's forums) that focuses on over population and ways to combat it.

This is where it really gets scary. If anyone should read a few of the topics and responses, you will see what I mean.

It seems that the course of conversation in this forum follows that the earth cannot continue to sustain the current population - and that in order for the human race to be able to survive, about 85% of the human population needs 'to go'.

I'll let everyone draw their own conculsion, but as for me, I'm going to be keeping an eye on this.

I think that the subject of global warming is a very real possibility and threat - not only to humans, but also animals and the earth.

However, some of the suggested ways to combat over population is repugnant and morally unethic!

Conclusion - the issue of global warming - over population has apparently made people very paranoid. I think the situation is getting out of hand.

I believe GOD is in control. HE made the universe and HE knows how to keep it going or not. HE told man to be fruitful and multiply. If HE thinks we need less population HE knows how to take care of it. We don't have to worry about it. If we put our trust in the ONE who was sent to save us from sin we need never worry!

Deborah, thanks for the links to the site you mentioned. It is good to know how others think, even if I don't agree! And I will keep my eye on it also.

I wish Dan had a real blogspot so we could respond. He seems to know a lot about what he believes.

I did not know that this post would be taken so seriously...LOL
