Yesterday...

I was over at Wide Margins and she was talking about her daughter's senior project about Diabetes. She said Yesterday was American Diabetes Alert Day. And this reminded me that a couple of people I know did the "Walk For The Diabetes Cure" on Sunday.

The young man second from the end on the right side is my grandson.

The girl on the right is a member of our church.

And yes, I stole the photos.

Handsome grandson. My Mother died from kidney failure due to her diabetes and her father,my Pa, died from a heart attack due to diabetes and my father also had it and so does my brother. Two years ago at age 57, I got the news and felt lucky that I had survived that long since I had a 100 per cent change of getting it. So for all those who walked for a cure. THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
ps when I read about the goat that butted your husband ended up as barbecue, fond memories of Pa and his goats came tumbling back. He always barbecued those who butted him.
Peace

As you know, my sister has diabetes and she has had a rough go with it. She doesn't seem to be able to control her glucose rate. The only good thing about it--she lost 50 pounds. Glad to see the diabetes walk.

My Grandmother on my Father's side is a diabetic...she does not do like she should always but is doing well. We fuss at her often. This also reminded me that at my dr's appt next week I am tested for the gestational diabetes that often comes with pregnancy. I hope all will be well. So glad the walk was a success...it's great that young people get so involved:-)

Your grandson is handsome, Ann! And what a great cause to walk for. I usually don't like to talk about my ailments, but I'm a type 2 diabetic, pretty well controlled with diet so far. It takes a lot of effort though. I pray they find a cure for it soon, as it's becoming an epidemic. Thank you to all who walked to find a cure!
