In a town near us, tomorrow is the opening day for Chick-fil-A
Can you believe all the tents and people already camped out? First one hundred people will get Chick-Fil-A for a year. I love their chicken, but not good enough to camp out. There are even some people from West Virgina that came in their cow suits.

The soybeans across the road are getting ready to finish up, changing colors already. There is a family of guinea fowl over there hiding in that field. Or at least they were still there yesterday. We found one of the babies on our front porch yesterday, dead on the welcoming rug. We wonder if Missy (dog) has found them. Today we have not seen them come from the field onto the lawn as they have done most days. We don't know if they have moved further into the field or left all together. I hope they have found a safer place to be.
My daughter mailed me two books today. One was The Christmas Sweater written by Glenn Beck, which I sat straight through this afternoon and read. I truly enjoyed this book, Penpen. Thanks for sending it.
Had a visit from my second son today. We checked out his new phone and some of the features. He can get on facebook with it. Now, y'all know I love facebook. Hummm wonder if I want one of those phones?
It has turned off colder. Tonight we will drop in the 40's, so the sweaters will be coming out. Hope things are going good for all my blogging friends.

The fence is back up. Husband put up a few boards at a time when ever he had a spare minute.
The little statue with the umbrella has been moved back into place.
Things are beginning to return to normal. Aunt Elsie's surgery on her eye went well. She can see !! Thank YOU LORD.

I stole this photo from one of my neices on facebook. These ladies are preparing to uncover all the bowls of food so we can begin to line up.
Can you believe I took my camera and never took it out of its case? I was too busy talking to the people I didn't know. We had family members that I had never met. And probably our newest member, a three week old baby, named Jackson. (That was my grandfather's name.) And it is my cousin's name and also my great-nephew's name. The littlest member is my first cousin's great grandson. Also my Uncle Odie's great granddaughter,Jessie, was there with her little Grace, which is also a family name. I love my family.
This was one of our larger crowds and everyone had a good time. I might have to "borrow/steal" some more of those pictures floating around on facebook.

After the storm the fence was down all around the property. The goats stayed where they belonged. A couple of them did come across the downed pine that fell into the yard, but they never got off the tree. A large section was down for the trucks to pull into the lot to pile debris onto the burning pile. The goats never crossed that line. I don't know if they were being extra good, or the LORD knew we couldn't deal with chasing goats with all the other things we had going on. The fence is still down in places, but so far, its all good.
If you read my label, you know I've stolen my granddaughter's favorite word.

The Gardens were beautiful.
We saw a slave house. Once there were twenty of these on the property.
They had their own hospital on the place.
This grand plantation is located on Lake Phelps which you can see in the background.
And in case you were wondering what the man in the post below saw when he was peeking in the window, I took a picture through the window.
If you would like to know more about Somerset Place they have a websiteHERE.

I got the book "The Help" for my birthday. Once I got started reading, I wanted to read it straight through.
Most of my family saw the movie recently.
Now that I've read the book, I would like to see the movie. The movie is never as good as the book, in my opinion. I guess I like my imagination better than the movie director's interpretation.
The book is about black maids and their white employers in the south during the 1960's. Most of the stories are told by the black maids. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Penny!

Officially for me... Summer is over.
My birthday trip back to the Outer Banks. Couldn't go south. So we just hung around Nags Head, Kitty Hawk and Jockey's Ridge. Hurricane Damage is still everywhere. I heard someone say they might get HWY 12 open by the end of next week.
