What is it, you ask? I don't know. I would think just a piece of driftwood with a piece of rope tied to it! Found this on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Your photo brings back childhood memories. I grew up by the beach and driftwoods were common things you see washed up on shore. Thanks for the love on my first PhotoHunt entry!
Ooh, I love driftwood. My dad used to have a very unusual piece downstairs on the bar. I must ask hime whatever became of it! We're originally from the New England south shore area. My parents walked the beaches of Cape Cod a zillion times! Thanks for this very unique photo.
I think it also resembles a large arrowhead. Very interesting subject, Ancient One! Thanks for stopping by the creek earlier. I do hope you will come back again soon. Blessings on your weekend!
hmm i believe there's a ship attached to that piece of wood, but the seas and the wood eroded it to its current state... i wonder what mysteries that slab holds...
I think its a part of some Gallows from 1674 with the noose still attacted, lobbed into the see when the french done away with hangings... :) - nah not really..... I LOVE finding driftwood and trying to make out what it could be.....
Found your blob via 'Gathering Around The Table'..... its nice here :)
It is a wonderful picture. My husband go down to the beach sometimes and we find driftwood and he carves our names in it. we hope to one day go and find one piece still there. We can always hope. Have a good week. connie from Texas

The sea and sand can carve some interesting shapes in driftwood, it is kind of odd to have a rope in it though. ec
Could be it part of a shipwreck?

Someone was probably using it to anchor something down. BEautiful shot.

Great shape to that piece of wood, and it looks perfect in the sand with the water rippling around it.
That is a beautiful piece of wood out there in the sea!

There's something very special about driftwood that's unlike any other wood I think. It takes on some wonderful shapes.
Nice entry for the photo hunt theme!
That is a cool piece of wood. It reminds me of those tables and clocks people make with driftwood.
This shot is very interesting. I wonder why the rope was tied to the driftwood? Child's play? Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Mary
Very nice! I love driftwood which reminds me of my childhood visits to the Oregon coast.
