Do you remember when there was no such word as cholesterol? Well, I had never heard of it until my Dad had his first heart by-pass surgery. I think they once called it "hardening of the arteries". I remember at the time they were saying there were some drugs that were coming on the market to help fight cholesterol. But there were none available for my Dad. So in about six years after his first heart surgery, he was scheduled to do it again. My doctor now has me on the pill "Lipitor" which keeps my bad cholesterol under control. But I also eat Cheerios just about every morning. Most of the time, I eat it plain with 2 per cent milk. This summer I have been making it better. Today I had it with white peaches and seedless green grapes. At times I have just fresh blue berries on it. Some mornings just fresh strawberries sliced on it. Other times, just sliced bananas. But the prettiest bowlful had blueberries, bananas, and strawberries! My friend does not know how I can continue to eat Cheerios every morning. I told her I have acquired a taste for them and they are good to me. About the only morning I cheat is on Sunday morning. I allow myself two pieces of bacon, two pieces of toast with grape jelly, and a cup of coffee. What do you eat for breakfast?
