A lovely spot of respite. Is that a crepe myrtle? I don't think I've seen one that tall.

Yes it is a crepe myrtle. We planted it in 1971.. a sprout from my MIL's tree... When I was growning up, we had a huge crepe myrtle tree in our front yard... perfect for climbing.. it had to be 100 years old.. most people keep them cut back... but I like for them to become real trees....
