Fort Macon Revisited

On a beautiful sunny day we took a trip back to Fort Macon. There was to be firing of the cannons every few hours. We first went to this covered deck with a delicious cool breeze blowing through.

We enjoyed seeing others enjoying the beach below.

All these photos can be made larger to enjoy.

There was plenty going on to keep us looking.

After a while we ventured down in to the sunshine and made our way over to the Fort. We asked this gentleman how much longer until the next cannon firing. He said another hour and a half.

Just inside the fort we found all these gentlemen waiting in the shade.

We took another very quick tour. It was so hot we decided not to wait for the next cannon firing. We hurried back to the car and the air conditioning.

Oh, beautiful pictures of the ocean and the beach! And I'm sure you enjoyed the Fort, as well. But thank goodness for air conditioning!

Oh, just got a letter from old friend Frieda who is now living with her daughter in Mt. Olive, NC. She says it's nice there, but oh so hot!

Stay cool, Ann.

I don't blame you for heading back to the air conditioning! Looks like a nice day though!

Ann,

Glad you had a good time, even though it was hot. I enjoyed the photos on this post and the one before. I don't know anyone who would fit that bra either.

Wishing you a great rest of the week.

Blessings,
Mary

Beautiful pictures, sounds like a lot of fun! We love to get out and explore ... depending on the heat too, of course!

Beautiful! It sure wasn't that pretty when we were there on Monday. Cold and rainy! :o(

OMG - it's been soooo hot! In my area it was near 100 degrees for almost 3 weeks - and no rain. Finally, over the past week, the rains have come, and it's slightly cooler - I'm hoping to be able to hike the yellow trail at Sweetwater Park this weekend.

The pics are pretty, especially of the ocean! I don't know, I think I would have stayed for the firing of the cannons...:)

I made a video of the cannon salute at the Confederate Cemetery on Confederate Memorial Day last year - I haven't posted it yet, but I might - a friend keeps sending me e-mail accusing me of *hording* pictures and video! lol

I do have a video of the cannons being fired at Kennesaw Mountain.

Those beach pictures are very nice. What would we do without the AC in hot weather. Have a great week.

Ann,

In reference to your comment about the porch, we're having great temperatures here. It's been an average of 73 F all week, but very cool at night...48 F. However, the evenings are great for porch sittin'. Come on up and sit a spell. lol

Blessings,
Mary

OOoo air conditioning. I think I'd be in the shade too although the water does look so tempting.
Cheers
