Neighborhood Watch

New signs at the end of our road. One is a detour sign...only local traffic allowed.

There are others put there by our good sheriff. They are asking us to be observant and report any suspicious activity.

Seems there are some pretty slick robbers out and about. They seem to know when people are away from home. (lots of Wednesday night, Friday night, and Sunday night stealing going on) They break into people's homes seeking out home safes. Several people in our neighborhood have been hit. These crooks steal what they want and place everything back (cleaning up behind themselves) and it sometimes takes a couple of days for people to realize that the safe has been robbed.

One neighbor reported that she had just filled up with gas one night and the next morning when she got ready to leave for work her car was empty. Also, tv's, GPS, tools, laptops, jewelry, etc. have been taken.

I think I want a German Shepherd dog. We have a dog, but she's too friendly. I also know that a lot of the people in our neighborhood now have gun permits. Desperate times? or just plain mean people?

Ohhh yeah! Get a german shepard!!! Lou is lab/german shepard and he has a vicious bark when people come too close to teh house and his size makes people a little nervous. :o) BUT - you can get a gun too...you would look awesome with a shoulder holster. :o) Love you!!!

Anymore, things are getting scarier and scarier. With the economy and joblesness, people are desperate. I have a hand gun. My dog is small and friendly, too, but she does bark if there is anything unusual going on. Wish I still had my Rottie, but she went to doggie heaven 4 years ago.

Oh a more cheerful note, your daffies add some spring to the post. Mine are blooming now as well.

Take care, and be careful, Ann. These are desperate times!

I have learned that robbers have specialties. One that takes only jewelry will do their bit and then pass the word to a friend who specializes in electronics about what is in your home then they might pass the word to a car thief who is looking for your particular make and model, and so on. If you get hit once, don't let down your guard and think it's over.

We had two home invasions within a week of one another and within two miles of our home. In the second instance a man was killed.

Any deterrent you can think of might help. Even just a small yappy dog can be a guardian because they can sound a warning that something is not right.

We are "well heeled" if you know what I mean:)

Granny Annie is right... those small yappy dogs make a LOT of noise when someone approaches. I have three that you can choose from. :o) I'll let you borrow them... one at a time.... or take all three... and they will REALLY make some noise for you! Seriously, it is very scary that people are breaking in around your neighborhood. Be very very very careful and tell my daddy not to let his guard down out there in his shop!!

It's not the world we grew up in any more. Sadly.
I have a gun permit, which my husband pushed me to get. I'm glad I have it now, and pray I never have to use it, but you never know.
I always pray for protection over our home...
