Unwelcome Surprises...

Not these...they are always welcome.

Went to the dentist today. You know that is not my favorite thing to do. So I had a little talk with myself. I said, why are you nervous. You know you will not get xrays today. Everything was fine last six months.. so all they're going to do is clean your teeth... now relax...

So I was about as relaxed as I could be, under the circumstances. First thing the young sweet girl (who's my favorite) said was... Dr. wants to take an xray of your lower left tooth next to the back.... WHAT?..... he noticed something when he reviewed your exrays from last time... wants to see that area again. !!!

So knowing my "gag" reflex, they hurriedly got the xray machine ready and took just the one xray. I got through it okay. Only took one time...

After that, the sweet young girl cleaned my teeth. She told me there was a dark spot at the tip of the root on the tooth in question. Didn't know what my dentist would want to do.

So here comes the unwelcome surprise. He wants to send me to another dentist. Thinks I might need a root canal. Yikes!

I have the appointment. Now what to do????

Oh, thats news I could do without! I've had several root canals and I've found the dread is actually worse then the proceedure. For my last one I went to a Dentist who does only root canals...he was so good I didn't even know when he was working.
Take a deep breath...and go get it taken care of..it won't be bad at all!

I agree with Pat, just go and get it done. It's not as bad as you think, and you won't feel a thing. You'll see.

Are those pretty pink flowers impatients? My favorite color, pink.

By the way, the other day or so, I tried leaving a comment on your other posts and couldn't. Blogger just refused to let them go through. Hope this one won't have a problem.

Uh-oh, I hear thunder again. See you later!

Ann,

Not the dreaded root canal. I hope that you don't have to have one. They aren't pleasant.

Sounds like you did a super job of getting through the x-ray and cleaning. Congratulations. Great job.

Last night I posted about the tobacco kilns and working in the tobacco fields. Drop by when you get a chance. I posted a photo of some red kilns.

Blessings,
Mary

I know that feeling of panic. You have my sympathies. I am such an absolute coward about my teeth. Good luck.

I have had three root canals in my lifetime. My dentist refers me to an Endodontist and the guy is great. I have no problem with root canals and I have no problem with my dentist. First, though, I had to get over a severe psychological disorder.

Oh, Ann, you have my sympathy. I know that gag reflex all too well. I think I stress more about that than the actual visit to the dentist. Try not to get too worked up about the root canal, they give you good drugs. The $$'s hurt worse than the procedure.

I have had two root canals. One without being put completely out and the other being out. I much preferred being put to sleep. You never know what happened...go on and get it checked because if you need it you don't want to wait.

My advice is.......

RUN, RUN, RUN!!!

Then when you are good and tired, go have the RC done. It will only get worse if you need it, and you don't want any part of that.

Save those teeth! They are important!

Terry (my husband) has a horrible gag reflex, it is a difficult thing to control!!! Not sure you really can....The only difference I saw so far as stress level with a root canal and a crown, was the length of time spent in the chair!!! Takes a while....and the price!!!!....we have no insurance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
