That is a sad state of affairs when you had to pay for the heating unit to be fixed on top of the bills. Been there done that. That's the disadvantage in living in the same house 24 years, I've had to replace almost all of my major appliances including the furnace.
i went through some of yr archives. yr life is so different from mine. interesting. that is wat makes photohunters so meaningful. it is like sharing with each other our lives
I haven't even turned on the heat yet. But I can tell you in about another week I will be - it's getting cool at night and doesn't heat up in the house until around noon.
But I keep the heat on about 60 - 65 degrees - but I also use a fireplace. It has been a real life-saver as far as heating bills go.
The air conditioning (electricity) is the worst. At least for now.
But about the repair job - I hope it didn't cost too much. Mom's went out a few years ago - in January - it couldn't be repaired - it cost her $5000.
Oh, hope the bill wasn't too big, Ann! I heat with propane, and the prices are through the roof! Thank goodness for my back up pot bellied wood stove. I love it!
Ah that was what the pic was about hahaha! Yup bills makes us all sad and some would bail out others for their incurables really sad indeed but sometimes needed for the greater good.
I am with you 100% on the bailout thing... I am SAD and quite MAD.
I did Photo Hunters today, too. I hope you get a chance to visit and post your link. It would make me *happy*! http://newyorktraveler.net/photo-hunters-sad/
Ann, I can relate to this sadness and frustration. I had very expensive repairs on my well earlier this year. And my furnace is on its last legs, I fear. I hope to get it though one more winter.
But it makes me smile to think about you sneaking a photo through the blinds!
Great and unique take on this sad theme! I hope you're having a nice weekend, Annie
I know exactly how you feel. Two years ago we had a new furnace and air conditioner installed and when we went to turn the heat on, it wouldn`t work. The repair man came out and told us that the circuit board was fried because water had gotten into it. He asked for $2,000. I more or less told him to go fly a kite that it was a sealed unit and should be under warranty for 7 years.
The following week the furnace would not come on again. Again the circuit board had blown. Come to find out when they installed the furnace and the AC, they put the overflow for the AC over the furnace. The overflow bowl was too small and it kept overflowing into the circuit board. That saved us a lot of money.
Sorry that you had to foot the extra bill. That is definitely sad.

Repairmen Inc are the same the world over. You pay a lot for the convenience of having things taken care of.
Sorry my blog made you sad. Que?
I hate when things break down and it costs money to fix it.

Ah! so it was the big bucks that you pay to the repairman that make you sad, I see...Wish you too can visit mine, thanks..
No heat on cold days would make me sad.
The economic chill is going to be very harsh.
That's sad... it's an expenditure which cannot be postponed!!
