The Day After

When I posted the last post..it was before Christmas.

On Christmas day my BIL went home to heaven.

His mom's name was Mary. Last post was "Mary, did you know?"

I like to think that my MIL, Mary, was waiting to welcome him home, as well as his Dad, and his brother who had gone on before.

It is a sad time for us, but we know he got to see Jesus face to face.

Mary Did You Know?

MARY DID YOU KNOW?

Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?

Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy would give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would calm a storm with his hand?

Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

Oh Mary did you know
The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the mute will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?

Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

O Holy Night

O Holy Night!

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

This is a Repeat

Letter from Jesus about Christmas --
Dear Children,
It has come to my attention that many you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten that I wasn't actually born during this time of the year and that it was some of your predecessors who decided to celebrate My birthday on what was actually a time of pagan festival. Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.
How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
Now, having said that let Me go on. If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santas and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.
Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching, explaining who I am in relation to you and what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that one, look up John 15: 1 - 8.
If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list. Choose something from it:
1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.
2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.
3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write and tell him that you'll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up. It will be nice hearing from you again.
4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.
5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.
6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless? Since you don't know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile; it could make the difference.
7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one. Then stop shopping there on Sunday. If the store didn't make so much money on that day they'd close and let their employees spend the day at home with their families
8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary-- especially one who takes My love and Good News to those who have never heard My name.
9. Here's a good one. There are individuals and whole families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive. If you don't know them, buy some food and a few gifts and give them to the Salvation Army or some other charity which believes in Me and they will make the delivery for you.
10. Finally, if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine.
Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love Me and do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all the rest. Check out the list above and get to work; time is short. I'll help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those whom you love and remember : I LOVE YOU, JESUS

Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem

Oh, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem,
Shining afar thru shadows dim,
Giving a light for those who long have gone, have gone;
And Guiding the Wise Men on their way
Unto the place where Jesus lay,
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on.

Oh, Beautiful Star (Beautiful, Beautiful Star)
Of Bethlehem, (Star of Bethlehem)
Shine upon us until the glory dawn;

Oh, give us thy light to light the way
Into the land of perfect day,
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on.

Oh, Beautiful Star, the hope of light,
Guiding the pilgrim thru the night
Over the mountain till the break of dawn, the dawn;
And into the light of perfect day
It will give out a lovely ray,
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on

Oh, Beautiful Star (Beautiful, Beautiful Star)
Of Bethlehem (Star of Bethlehem)
Shine upon us until the glory dawn;

Oh, give us the light to light the way
Into the land of perfect day
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on.

Oh, Beautiful Star, the hope of rest,
For the redeemed, the good and the blest,
Yonder in glory when the crown is won, is won;
For Jesus is now that star divine,
Brighter and brighter He will shine
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on.

Oh, Beautiful Star (Beautiful, Beautiful Star)
Of Bethlehem, (Star of Bethlehem)
Shine upon us until the glory dawn;

Oh, Give us thy light to light the way
Into the land of perfect day,
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on.

What Child Is This?

What Child Is This?

What Child is this, who laid to rest,
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear: for sinners here,
The silent Word is pleading.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through,
The Cross be borne, for me, for you:
Hail, hail, the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh;
Come peasant, king to own Him.
The King of Kings salvation brings;
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Raise, raise, the song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby:
Joy joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Goodies in the Mail

Don't you love getting goodies in the Mail. My daughter sent me this beautiful quilted snowman that she made herself. It even came with instructions. She told me it would look pretty on my end table with a dish of peppermint candy. She was right!!

Thanks Penny, I really love it!!

Update:

Just a quick update. My husband's oldest brother has been in the hospital for a couple of weeks. The doctors told him and his family that there is no more they can do for him. They are planning to discharge him this week and he will go home with hospice care. His wife is the one who has just finished up her chemo for cancer. Please, when you think of them, we would appreciate your prayers. He is saved and is not afraid to die. Please pray for strength for his family as they prepare to care for him at home. GOD is Good and does all things well.

Christmas

We had our Christmas early this year. Saturday was the only day that everyone would be able to be together. This year our great grandson made the day so much fun.

He got lots of great presents. I think the guitar was his favorite. The two beautiful women sitting behind him are pregnant. Jessica on the left is due on January 12. Ashley is due on July 9. Next Christmas we will have three little ones opening presents. That makes for lots more fun.

And this morning in church, My oldest son sang "Mary Did You Know" during the church service. GOD is so Good to us!!!

Sunset

It was a full day. Church this morning, home for a quick change, lunch on the road, and a visit with my sister-in-law at the nursing home. She had lots of company today. Her two daughters were there and her sister-in-law on her husband's side, her neice and the neice's three beautiful children. Very enjoyable afternoon. We were late getting home.

Where are those goats when I need them...

People are so silly. They tell their kids that Santa brings them gifts. Then they go out on black friday and "fight" those crowds (sometimes acutally fist fight, pepper spray each other and snatch and grab those same toys that Santa is suppose to bring for free. People are not very smart.

Who got that Santa story started, anyway. (I suspect the merchants selling the toys.) And every year the Santa story gets embellished. Now the parents in the know have to buy an elf to sit in different places until just before Christmas, when it disappears to go back to the North Pole to tell Santa if the child has been naughty or nice. And if you don't have a chimney, you must buy this special key to hang on the door so Santa can come in. When he leaves he hangs the key on the Christmas tree. And don't forget the cookies and milk and some hay for the reindeer.

This old goat prefers the Christmas story that the Bible tells us about. The one that is TRUE!!

Happy Thanksgiving

PSALM 100

1. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3. Know ye that the LORD he is GOD; it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him and bless his name.
5. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

My SIL has had all her tests and there is no sign of cancer in her body. For this we praise our LORD.

Also my husband went back today for his six month check up at his cardiologist. He got a good report and was taken off one more of his medicines. GOD is so good!
I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Enough Time

You know how I've been so proud of how the goats stayed in the woods and pasture even though the fence has been down since the hurricane came through. Well, all that changed last weekend. We were inside and I happened to look out the window and saw the goats were in the back yard attacking the grapevine. Husband ran out and called for Missy (the dog) and she made short work of getting them back across the ditch and into the woods.

I think they got back into the yard on Saturday, and Husband says, "I've got to get the fence back up." He got busy doing something else and didn't get the fence up.

Then Sunday, when we got home from church, all the goats were laying around in the front yard. They were just taking it easy. As soon as we got out of the car, Husband yelled for Missy. She came running and barking and the goats went back into the woods. After lunch Husband went to the woods. He worked all around the left side of the house and got all the wire fence back up and turned on the electricity so they would feel a shock if they came out.

Then he went to the right side to walk that fence line and make sure all the wire was up. I was on the telephone and noticed that the goats were in the front yard again. I went out and yelled for Missy and she paid me no mind and neither did the goats. My husband finally heard me and he and Missy came from the woods on the right and the goats ran back through the fence on the left. About dark, Husband came in and said all the fence was up and the electricity was working on both sides. So far as I know, the goats have not been out again.

*I usually let the goats do my political talking and here we are on election day and we had nothing to vote for.*

Lazy River

This has been a busy week so far. Sunday after church, we went to see SIL in the nursing home. Husband's brother and SIL went with us. We had a good visit and got home at dark.

Monday, I took myself to the dentist for cleaning and re-scheduled the filling I missed in June.

Tuesday, I took mama to her heart doctor for a sonogram of her heart. We go back on the 15th for the results. She wanted to go to Walmart. We looked around in there for awhile. Neither of us bought anything.

Last night I found out that my Aunt Elsie has another great-grandchild. After I read her email I checked on facebook and saw that beautiful little girl. (I love babies !!)

Today I stayed home.

Tomorrow Husband goes to the dentist. After that he is going to New Bern to get more grass. I hope to take that ride with him.

Hope your week is good!
