I went to get my hair cut today. Donna, who cuts my hair, gave me something to think about.
I don't know about you, but I have a tendency to say "I've got to... get up... I've got to...take out the trash... I've got to.. wash the clothes... etc." as if everything is a burden.
She suggested we look at things differently and say..."I get to...get up.... I get to... take out the trash... I get to ... wash the clothes...etc... then we can realize how blessed we are that we still can do all those things...
I probably didn't explain that well, but I intend to start talking and thinking about things differently... Maybe I can break a bad habit.
More Irises are blooming

Oh, they are so beautiful!!! Thank you so much for sharing them.connie
I sooooo hear ya. I have had an attitude change over the past few months too, and it takes daily work to keep things positive and to see things for the beautiful way they are, not the way they "aren't". I get to..is just another good way to change how we think about things. Thanks for the hint!
We talk about this alot at church....especially when folks can do something because they "HAVE" to go to church......We are so blessed to be able to do things!!! Ihave also heard you should be thankful for dirty dishes....it means you had food to eat!!1 AMEN!!! I will try to take some pictures of my Iris, right now I have a beautiful deep Purple one.
That sounds wonderful and is a good concept until we arrive at: "I get to clean the toilet." LOL
Hi Ann,
I am GUILTY and I never gave it a thought.THanks for sharing this ,it is something to think about, makes me wonder what else do I do ,that I don't realize I'm saying?
Love your flowers!
Have a great day!
Blessins',Lib
That's an excellent sentiment to live by! As I'm under the dental surgeon's knife again tomorrow I intend to have a huge dinner that will hopefully last me the next 10 days of recover. Nothing like having a fully functioning set of gnashers to make me really appreciate the joy of being able to cook, finding the time to cook and then eventually enjoy a good family dinner.
Best wishes
Good attitude to have, to be thankful to still have the ability to get things done, instead of being bed ridden or something.
Love the irises. I have those almost white ones this year as well. I don't know where they came from, because none were that light last year. But they sure are beautiful. I also have some really dark purple's. I think they are actually called black irises.
Have a good evening, Ann!
Renie
Great thought to ponder on. I love Granny Annies comment!!
I've been sick this week and kind of home bound...now I'm actually anxious to go grocery shopping!
The Iris is my FAVORITE flower. I have some at my little summer cottage but none here at home. I'm feeling the need to plant some!
That is great advice! I'm going to try it too - I get bogged down in the "got tos" sometimes. And your iris are gorgeous!
Hello,I found your blog at Connie's Thoughts From The Heart. Your post is a good reminder to me to speak positive. I also like irisis and eagerly await their blooming time here in michigan. Dee
The Iris is one of my favorite flowers too. In mythology, Iris was goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the gods, representing many brilliant colors, I wonder if this flower was named for her??
WONDERFUL ....I'm always going to remind myself of what you said and you did explain it so well.
Ann,
My iris all need to be replanted, as they are not doing well. I would love to make an iris garden. They are such beautiful flowers.
I have brown iris. The original toes came from my great grandmother. Mom has them and I do as well. I also have blue and a Dark Knight, which I believe is the one Renie is talking about...they are so purple, they appear black.
You give such good advice at the beginning of this post. I too am going to try to take on a better attitude and be thankful I'm still able to do these things.
Blessings,
Mary
Your iris is pretty; mine have not bloomed yet. About your new thinking: Recently, I had worked in the yard and mentioned to one of my patients how sore I was. She told me to enjoy every minute of it, because I could be like her, having repetitive back surgeries and not be able to even get out of the bed by myself. She was being kind, but boy, it hit me like a rock! That lady died a couple weeks ago, but I'll never forget the "lesson" she taught me! Everyday at work I am reminded of how fortunate I am that I "can" do these things!
About the knock out roses.... LOL... I looked for some today for him! Funny that he bought some today. (I didn't find any)
what a great idea.
