My parents were not church goers. I'm so thankful for the people in the neighborhood who cared about me enough to invite me to Sunday School. In Sunday School, we were taught little choruses and Bible verses. I especially liked Vacation Bible School. My cousin, sister, and I liked it so much we would walk down our long dusty road in the summer to go every afternoon for a week.
After I was married people invited us to church. It took a long while before we started going. I realized I needed to be saved and one Sunday morning I went forward at the Pastor's invitation. A lady named Mrs. Fronie Hardee (a Sunday School teacher) took me back and explained the plan of salvation to me and showed me in her Bible the verses that proved to me that a sinner like me could and would be accepted by Jesus Christ. That was the best day of my life.
Please take your children to Sunday School. If you can't or won't, please let them go with people you know or on a church bus that comes into your neighborhood. This is very important. You may not think that children learning little songs and Bible verses is important, but it is.
Years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Do you know the most precious thing to me at that time. The Bible verses and the little songs. "The LORD knows the way through the wilderness." "He's Able" and "Jesus Loves Me" were constantly playing in my head. Yes, those little choruses I learned so long ago. They gave me such sweet peace during difficult days.
GOD is so good!
