My middle son was running around on the beach and there were jellyfish everywhere. He took a stick and popped one and it splattered and stung him everywhere it hit. That's when we were instructed to get some meat tenderizer to put on it and to give him a dose of Benadryl. Worked like a charm.
I've bee stung by a jellyfish... and on my 9th birthday, no less. Trust me when I say it was a horrific experience -- in fact, I couldn't walk for 5 days and have bad scars to prove it! So ya, they really can zap... :(

I knew about the tenderizer but wouldn't have thoutht of the Benadryl..

I have been zapped by a lot of jelly fish and the only remedy that I know of that works to ease the pain is meat tenderizer. Strange but true.
Interesting photo....I've seen 'em by the hundreds on our shores during certain seasons. Ya, it DOES look 'zapped' itself!!!
