Do you see this?

The person sitting on the ground? Holding a sign that says "HOMELESS GOD BLESS"?

So many cars passed and no one saw her. How do I know it was a "her"? We went by and gave her a few dollars.

Did she take advantage of us? I don't know. That's between her and the LORD.

We had a couple, carrying huge back packs walking down the street a month ago. It was 18 degrees with the wind chill. Unusual, because I have never seen homeless around here. They said even a local church would not help them. They were hitch hiking to Oklahoma, where the husband might be able to get a job. They were so cold. Later we saw them huddled by a building. Well, I could not just turn away, and helped them some. Whether they really needed help or not, is not for me to ponder. I saw someone in dire need, how could I just turn away?

A good deed is never really wasted. God will bless you, Ann!

Hugs,

Renie

I am one of those who can not turn away when a see someone in need. I also remember the verses in Matthew 25 where Jesus is talking said,"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." And He said, "Verily I say unto you inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

So, I would rather be safe than sure about one in need. Have a happy Sunday, Ancient One. connie

Anne,

God bless that woman and the homeless. Some are definitely legit and yes, it's between her and the Lord. I am a softie, but usually give food instead of $$

Take care. Thank you for the prayers for my family and myself. Very much appreciated.

Hugs,
Mary

I think God gives us discernment about these things too. Sometimes when I see the same people over and over on Wendover Ave.... I just ride right by them. (I saw one pull out his cash and count it and then use his cell phone) But there have been others that I see and feel like God speaks to me and tells me to give. We just have to listen. And like you said, it's between them and God... me and God. :o)

Your heart is gold Ann.
We have a lot, (relatively speaking, in this Land of Opportunity,) of homeless in Oz. Some choose to be, for whatever reasons they have. Some are reluctant homeless, but strangely enough, not many of them beg. They quietly reside under bridges or in doorways, and are often fed by the Salvation Army kitchens.
