How I loved feeding the chickens when I was a little girl! ANd I had an old Easter basket to gather the eggs in - the bright colored grass in it helped me to get the eggs back to the kitchen without breaking them.
I still kinda wish I had chickens - but I would never be able to kill them and would have a fit if something else did.
Thanks for the picture... it took me on a long trip back in time!

So cute! I love chickens and had many. But since I could never butcher them either, I finally gave up raising them.

Love the picture!

Hugs,

Renie

PS. The little critter in the picture is a woodchuck, or commonly known as a groundhog.

Ann,

That picture brings back memories of childhood. One of my jobs was feeding the chickens. Grandma had hens that looked just like those ones. Thanks for the memories.

Blessings,
Mary

I am with some of these other ladies. It brought back so many memories of my childhood and feeding our chickens. I loved them! My first chick was given to me by an uncle when I was about four years old. I didn't want it to stay outside and get cold so I brought it inside and put it in a drawer for the night. It died during the night. It make me so sad and I cried it seemed for days. We always had lots of chickens to go with our lots of children.lol Such fun such great days. Thanks for the memories. connie

I'm sorry the storms got some of your baby chicks. Our neighbor down the road has 2 roosters and a hen. I can hear faint crowing from down that way in the mornings.

I love the picture.

Grandpa always had chickens and that brings back fond memories of him and his flock. I never that neat looking though as I was a tom boy from the start. Have a wonderful weekend. Peace
