Today It Did Not Rain
Our yard is still very wet, but today it did not rain. I actually got in the car and went to pick up my own pills. Seems that since my husband retired I don't get to drive as much. But, that's okay, as long as I get to go with him. Neither of us felt quite up to par today. He decided to sleep a while. My sinuses were giving me a fit all day.
Well, we watched a lot of the Republican convention this week. And we are looking forward to seeing the Democrats next week. Then this Independent will have to decide who will get my vote.
As usual the picture as usual has nothing to do with the post.

This and That
My daughter gave me this beautiful glass globe a few years ago. Look closely. Can you tell that it is broken on the top. Something fell on it during one of the storms. It still stands in the middle of those weeds that bloom blue, and it is still one of my favorite things.
This week has passed quickly. My daughter sent me a package. Books !! I spent the last couple of days reading. One was When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple and the another was Bryson City Seasons by Walt Larimore, M.D. The one by the doctor from Bryson City was extremely interesting to me. My daughter once lived in Bryson City and she might have known who some of the people were in the stories. I didn't, but found the story of the Cherokee baby being born fasinating. I really enjoyed the map of the town in the front of the book. I imagined I could find the house that my daughter lived in. I do know that I enjoyed visiting Bryson City and will always have fond memories of the area.
Also this week, my husband's younger brother had four stints put in to open some blockages. We visited him today and he says he's fine. Thank You LORD !!

Something New to Me
I was visiting my cousin and I commented on this shell display she had. She told me to take it. I protested. I wasn't hinting for her to give me anything... I just liked it... She insisted I take it... My husband asked me where I thought I was going to hang it? (He didn't want me to take it.) She insisted.. I told my husband I'd put it in the laundry room. He still frowned. He said I could hang it outside the same as she had it, but he let me take it home.
There were a couple of starfish missing. I made a special trip to Michaels to get some. I glued some on and left it outside on a chair to dry. The next day, the starfish were missing. We can only guess that the dog ate them. So back to Michaels to get more starfish. I still need to clean up where the glue spread beyond the starfish on top and bleach a little more of the dark stains. For now it is hanging in my laundry room.
I will never again tell my cousin I like something in her house... no matter how much I love it... I felt bad taking her beautiful shell display... but I sure do LOVE it... Thanks Cousin!!

Entitlements - Rant
The quote below was posted in my feed on facebook. (exactly as it appeared)
"My mothet had surgery today at the heart center. I was down to the cafe and buying my mom dome bannas i was moving so slow this black doc. Paid for it for me. So shame my mom get on me about being slow about pulling my money out. I said thanks and ran. Im also shy. He said he knew my money need to go some where else. Yea lol the lite bill."

In the Bless Your Heart section of our newspaper, you often see people thanking someone for paying for their groceries or other items at the check out. I think some people have come to expect someone else to pay for them. I have seen people hold up the line for a long period of time, pretending to search for their money, in every nook and cranny of their purse, in their pockets and then go through the same motions a second time and at the moment you are ready to scream, they reach right in and pull out the money and even get change back. I truly think that a lot of them are just trying to get some good person to step up and pay for them.
I've seen people walk up to others and tell them they need a "Blessing" today. They just need a little more money to get something they need. " I know times are hard right now, but can you bless me just a little, I NEED some flip-flops. These don't match my outfit and people will talk about me. I could get some more fip-flops for about a dollar. Do you think you could Bless me today? " Do you think they are all reading the Bless Your Heart section of the paper?
There are so many people begging every where you turn these days. I know our government provides food stamps, government housing, aid for dependent children, child care, medicaide, etc. for people in lower income brackets. Funny that so many of the people who get these services, drive newer cars, have the latest cell phones, and gold jewelry flashing everywhere. What is wrong with this picture?
